Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation to Aromaleigh Mineral Cosmetics Mineral Foundation Ballpark Comparable Shades

This is a master  post for Aromaleigh - Alima Pure color comparisons.
(In chart above, Alima Pure is on left, Aromaleigh on right). Comparisons were made by closely comparing the swatches from each brand, next to one another on a desktop computer monitor.

Before we get started- Hi there! Aromaleigh is a one woman artisan crafter of loose powder mineral cosmetics. My business model is very different from Alima Pure's. I personally formulate, package, label, ship, and handle all social media, customer service emails and every aspect of the business.

My name is Cristiana and you can get to know me better here. Because of the small size of my business, you should be aware that orders can take longer to put together, as I fill many products custom for orders. My products aren't mass manufactured and ready to ship. Check out order TAT for more information. I am very involved in every aspect of my business and take pride in serving my customers, and have been in business for over 28 years.

Aromaleigh's Gossamer or Dewdrop Mineral Foundations are excellent replacements for Alima Pure's Satin Matte Foundation with similar ingredient profiles. Alima started up 7 years after I started Aromaleigh in 1998. They were once a small, handcrafting indie (as I still am), but they changed their business direction and began manufacturing and distributing their products on a larger scale. Their color naming system is similar to the one I'd established for my mineral foundations 7 years earlier. Like Aromaleigh, they offer a wide range of shades for paler complexions that have typically found it difficult to find a match.

Aromaleigh foundation naming is based on a simple system of levels from 1-4, and straightforward undertones. They are described here. Mixing and matching isn't uncommon with loose powder minerals. If you find you're in between shades or need a mix of two, I do offer a custom blended jar option.

Here's a comparison of the two products from Skinsort.com:

These are "ballpark" shade chart comparables. They're based on the visual appearance of online swatches, not real life product comparisons. I offer affordable sample baggies of my products and encourage you to utilize this option to try out various shades and formulas to find the product that works best for you. As a small handcrafter who's kept true to my indie roots, because I offer these affordable sample baggies, all sales of my products are final. I don't accept returns.

Ordering samples is easy via the top bar menu on desktop, or side bar menu on mobile. Go to MINERAL MAKEUP > Mineral Foundation > Scroll down and you will see my 3 foundation formulas shown in rows, with 4 different sizes. I've made screen shots of this on desktop and they are at the end of this post for further assistance.

The graphic charts below are all examples of Alima Level 3, which is what I've received the most email queries about. You can use the text chart below these to determine your tone level for the depth of other Alima shades (I will be working on more graphic charts- you can view all uploaded charts in one place on this Pinterest board.

ALIMA PURE COOL 3:

Alima's Cool range appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's C (cool) or CL (cool linen) shades. It could also match to Neutral Beige (NB), Neutral Cool (NC), Pink Linen (PL) or Peach Pink (CP).  The depth of Alima Cool 3 appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's Light (2) or Medium (3) range.

ALIMA PURE NEUTRAL 3:

Alima's Neutral range appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's CL (cool linen) shades. The depth of Alima Neutral 3 appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's Light (2) or Medium (3) range. Some wearers could potentially go lighter, into the Ivory (1) range, so those are included. As such, the matches I have included above include both Levels 1, 2 and 3, in the Cool Linen (CL) and some Neutral (and neutral subsets NC (neutral cool) and NB (neutral beige.

ALIMA PURE BEIGE 3:

Alima's Beige range appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's neutral range, and possibly the CL (cool linen) shades. The depth of Alima Beige 3 appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's Light (2) or Medium (3) range. As such, the matches I have included above include both Levels 2 and 3, in the Neutral (and neutral subsets or NW (neutral warm), NC (neutral cool) and NB (neutral beige), as well as the Cool Linen (CL) shades.

ALIMA PURE WARM 3:

Alima's Warm range appears to most closely match shades such as Aromaleigh Warm (W) or Warm/Linen (WL), as well as Neutral Olive (NO), Warm Olive (WO) or Neutral Warm (NW). The depth of Alima Warm 3 appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's Light (2) or Medium (3) range.

ALIMA PURE OLIVE 3:

Alima's Olive range appears to most closely match shades such as Aromaleigh Neutral Olive (NO), Neutral Warm (NW) or Warm Linen (WL). Alima's Olives are unique to me in that I'm not seeing olive tones in the online swatches, I'm seeing mostly linen with some warmth. Aromaleigh's olives are known as Yellow (olive) and Yellow/Linen (Olive). These shades were distinctly formulated in the early 2000's for customers of Asian descent. I personally have about 50% Mediterranean descent and my perfect match is Aromaleigh Light Neutral Olive (2NO). I also can wear Aromaleigh Yellow Linen.

The depth of Alima Olive 3 appears to most closely match Aromaleigh's Light (2) or Medium (3) range.

Ordering samples is easy via the top bar menu on desktop, or side bar menu on mobile. Go to MINERAL MAKEUP > Mineral Foundation > Scroll down and you will see my 3 foundation formulas shown in rows, with 4 different sizes.

On the MINERAL FOUNDATION page, you will see I have denoted the sample ordering option in red. Click on the formula you'd like to order samples of.

Choose the shades you'd like to sample, and add them to your cart individually.

In the chart below, first find your LEVEL (how light to dark your skin is), then scroll down further to view the TONES (how warm, cool, pink, beige, etc your skin is). Combine those two pieces of information together to get a general idea of some Aromaleigh shades to try.

Example: You wear Alima shade "Neutral 4" and want some options for samples to try. In the chart below, scroll down until you see your level (4) and see what Aromaleigh level is recommended (It says: "Try Aromaleigh shade levels 3 or 4"). Now scroll down under the levels and look at the TONES. For Alima Neutral 4, I suggest: "Consider Aromaleigh Cool/Linen or Neutral". What this means is that you should consider Aromaleigh shades in levels 3 or 4, and shades Cool/Linen or Neutral. This means Aromaleigh 3N, 4N, 3CL. You may want to consider sampling in the level 2 shades also. 2N, 2CL. The shades I suggest aren't guaranteed matches. These are ballpark suggestions of a starting place for you with my brand.

**Please note, I can't respond to queries such as "I wear Alima shade XX, what Aromaleigh shade do I wear?" There isn't any way possible for me to provide you with a precise answer. Alima to Aromaleigh compariables are based on viewing online swatches, not on handling actual physical product side by side. This will require some sampling and experimentation on your end. I offer affordable sample baggies so that you can do exactly this, without having to purchase full sized products.

Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation Shade (numerical shade levels first, color tones start about halfway down.)

Try Aromaleigh shade levels 2 , 3 or 4
If you wear Alima shade levels 4-7
Try Aromaleigh shade levels 3 or 4
If you wear Alima shade levels 7-8
You might find a match in level 4, but it may be too light.
If you wear Alima shade level 9
Aromaleigh level 4 is likely too light. Deeper shade range additions are in the works for 2026.
SKINTONES BELOW (Cool, neutral, beige, etc):

If you wear Alima Cool:
Consider Aromaleigh Cool (C), Cool/Linen, Pink (CL), Neutral Beige (NB), Neutral Cool (NC), Pink/Linen (PL) or Peach Pink (CP)
If you wear Alima Neutral:
Consider Aromaleigh Cool/Linen (CL), Neutral (N), Neutral Beige (NB) or Neutral Cool (NC)
If you wear Alima Beige:
Consider Aromaleigh Neutral, Neutral Beige (NB), Neutral Cool (NC), Neutral Warm (NW) or Cool Linen (CL)
If you wear Alima Warm
Consider Aromaleigh Warm (W), Warm Linen (WL), Neutral Warm (NW), Warm Olive (WO) or Neutral Olive (NO)
If you wear Alima Olive
The closest Aromaleigh undertones appear to be Neutral Warm (NW), Neutral Olive (NO) or Neutral Warm Linen (NWL).

Aromaleigh's Yellow (Olive) tones have much more olive and yellow tones to them than Alima's. Aromaleigh's Y and YL series were distinctly formulated for customers of Asian descent in the early 2000's.
